Jesse Wardlaw has been named a NAB AFL Women's Rising Star nominee after her scintillating performance in round two.

Second-year forward Wardlaw played her most outstanding game to date, finishing with three goals from eight disposals.

Wardlaw combined with debutant Dakota Davidson to expose Geelong in the air, as the key forward pairing gave fans an exciting glimpse of the future.

The nomination comes after the Lions upset the Cats on the road with a 19-point win at GMHBA Stadium.

Jesse, 20, represented Queensland at the 2018 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships. She was selection #61 at the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft and in 2019 was named the Brisbane Lions’ First Year Player of the Year.

The young forward played every game in the 2019 AFLW season.

She was recruited from Coorparoo. A talented sportsperson, Jesse was also a Queensland Under-18 netball player.

Fremantle's Roxanne Roux has also been nominated for the award in round two, finishing with two goals and four marks.

Fans won't have to wait long to see these two talented goal kickers line up at opposite ends as the Dockers host the Lions at Fremantle Oval in round five of the NAB AFL Women's Competition.
