Connor McFadyen will play his first senior game for the Brisbane Lions after being named on the extended bench in Sunday afternoon’s Marsh Community Series match against Port Adelaide.

Mitch Robinson, Ely Smith, Lincoln McCarthy, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Alex Witherden, Brandon Starcevich and Oscar McInerney were also named in the final 30-man team. Sam Skinner, Ryan Lester, Jack Payne and Rhys Mathieson have been listed as emergencies.

Adcock said the Club named the best players available to play their first pre-season match.

“We’ve always been of the philosophy that you pick your best team,” Adcock said.

“We want to try to get the best team going and build a connection and get some miles under their legs.”

He is looking forward to seeing new player Ellis-Yolmen take to the midfield, joining new recruits Grant Birchall and Callum Ah Chee for the first time in Lions colours.

“They’re really excited to run out in our colours and I think they’ve all really enjoyed their time with us so far,” Adcock said.

Sunday will be a special moment for Adcock, with the former Lions Captain taking the reins of coaching for the first time in his career.

“I just love the Club,” he said.  

“I just love being here. Whether that’s playing, coaching, any sort of role.”
