Dayne Zorko has been ruled out of Friday night’s State of Origin for Bushfire Relief match with a minor hamstring injury sustained in Sunday’s Marsh Community Series match against Port Adelaide.

The star midfielder was named in the All-Stars’ team alongside fellow Lions Lachie Neale, Charlie Cameron and Harris Andrews. Stefan Martin will play in the Victorian side.

Club medics are not comfortable with Zorko playing on the back of a five-day turnaround.

Zorko was understandably disappointed with the outcome.

“I was really looking forward to being part of such a special cause and hopefully making an impact for those that lost their homes, possessions or livelihood in the horrendous fires” he said.

Zorko will be replaced in the side by Carlton’s Eddie Betts.

The Club will also rest Zorko for this weekend’s intra-Club match but he will be available for selection for Round 1.
