The Brisbane Lions will be kicking off season 2026 with a 5,200km road trip across the Sunshine State, taking the 2024 and 2025 Premiership Cups to visit their regional fans.
Powered by Hyundai, the Lions will trek from Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield and hop through Queensland’s regional centres all the way up to Thursday Island allowing fans the chance to get up close and personal with the back-to-back premiership cups.
Starting in Hervey Bay on 15 January, the Cup will then travel to Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay and Airlie Beach before heading further north to Townsville.
The Cups will cross the Cape to Weipa, then venture further north than ever before up to Thursday and Horn Island before returning to Cairns.
It is then back to the Sunshine Coast for the Lions 2026 Community Camp, running from January 28-30, the Cups will then return to Brisbane before heading west to Toowoomba prior to the Lions Opening Round clash against the Western Bulldogs.
Brisbane Lions Chief Executive, Sam Graham said it was an incredible opportunity to give back to an ever-growing Lions fan base.
“As a football club we’ve had an incredible couple of seasons, so to be able to take the Cups on the road across Queensland and share the successes with our incredible fans is a great opportunity.
“It feels like a great way to kickstart 2026, in what hopefully will be another successful season for the Lions.
“Across the State, fans will be able to get selfies with the Cups at a range of clinics, we’ll visit some Hyundai dealerships and we’ll be hosting watch parties so everyone can enjoy that last Saturday in September once again.
“And for our Victorian fans, stay tuned, we’ll be hosting a fan event later in the season.”
Head of AFL Queensland and International Trisha Squires said the tour will allow more Queenslanders to connect with the game.
“We want everyone in Queensland to have the opportunity to love and connect with Australia’s game in 2026 and believe this activity could inspire more participants to get involved, whether that be playing, coaching, umpiring or volunteering.”
