The Brisbane Lions’ Board of Directors convened today at a regular scheduled meeting.

At the conclusion of today’s meeting, Directors Paul Williams and Mick Power notified the Board that they, along with Leigh Matthews, would run a ticket against the current Board.

Having heard from Paul Williams and Mick Power following the meeting, the Board has resolved that it is in the best interests of the Club to continue on its current course in identifying and appointing a new Senior Coach, and to stand on its recent record of:

  • Re-signing of all core marquee players of the Brisbane Lions including Pearce Hanley, Daniel Rich, Tom Rockliff, Jack Redden, Matthew Leuenberger;
  • 20 percent increase in its Football Club membership;
  • Record Football Club sponsorship revenue;
  • Announcement of the $60 million Lions’ new Elite Training and Administration base which included $15 million of Federal Government funding;
  • Successful Social Club at LIONS@springwood with over 115,000 members.

The Board of the Brisbane Lions always serves on behalf of its members and any composition of the Board is rightly put before the members every year.

The next regular opportunity for this will be at the Club’s Annual General Meeting to be held in December, at which, Directors Paul Williams and Mick Power are seeking re-election.
