LAST TIME THEY MET
Brent Moloney and Sam Mayes led the Lions to a 28-point win when they met the Demons in Round 5 at the Gabba.

Moloney racked up 35 touches, including ten clearances, in his 150th AFL Game and was the catalyst for the Lions’ victory.

After taking only a six point lead into the half time break, the Lions came out firing in the third, putting on six goals for the term. They lead by 26 points at the final change and extended it to 46 points before the Demons rallied, kicking the last three goals of the game.

In the absence of suspended Winger, Pearce Hanley and injured Midfielder, Daniel Rich, Sam Mayes was impressive. He knocked up 28 disposals and showed composure beyond his years in just his third game of AFL footy.

Matthew Leuenberger and Jonathan Brown were also key contributors both kicking three goals.

Matt Maguire is set to play his 50th game for the Brisbane Lions this Saturday night against the Demons. Maguire was recruited to the Lions from St Kilda at the end of the 2009 Season.

This Saturday night will mark the first time that the Club has ever played an official AFL match for premiership points in the Northern Territory. However, the Lions did visit the ‘Red Centre’ during the 2012 NAB Cup, when they were scheduled to face Adelaide at Traeger Park. On that occasion, the Crows prevailed by 51 points.

The Lions Reserves side is quite familiar with TIO Stadium having faced the NT Thunder at the venue in a handful of NEAFL matches in recent years.
