Lions livewire Dayne Zorko says his side can’t bank on another record-breaking comeback getting them over the line against ladder-leaders Hawthorn this Sunday in Tasmania.

Instead, Zorko and his teammates will need to reproduce that same level of effort and intensity shown in the final term against Geelong last weekend for the full 120 minutes if they want to snap the Hawks’ 11-game winning streak.

“We really need to string together four consistent quarters, and we’re just not doing that at the moment,” Zorko told Dom Fay and Michael Whiting as part of this week’s Fancast on LIONS TV.

“We’re competitive for three quarters, but if we can string together a good strong four-quarter effort, I think the boys would take a lot more confidence from that than just a good two or three quarters from every game.”

The second year sensation also said it was important to move on from last Sunday’s dramatic victory over the Cats and direct their full attention to the best side in the competition.

“We can’t get too far ahead of ourselves and just focus on Hawthorn this week – they’re the number one side,” he said.

Despite losing defender Grant Birchall with a knee injury, Hawthorn still boasts a wealth of talent in every area on the field.

“They’ve got a big strong power forwards in (Lance) Franklin and (Jarryd) Roughead firing at the moment,” Zorko said. “They’re two really important guys that we’re probably going to need to stop.”

“They’ve got a lot of really good left-footers out of the backline, so our half-forward will have to be right on  their game and try and shut them down as best they can.”
