Brown sustained multiple facial fractures in a contest during the third quarter of Saturday night's narrow two point loss against Fremantle.
Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football Operations, Dean Warren, said Brown was in good spirits following the surgery.
"The news from the surgeon regarding Jonathan was very positive," Warren said.
"The surgery was successful, he's in good spirits and we expect him to be released from hospital in the next day or two, which is great news."
He is expected to miss at least eight weeks as he recovers from the surgery.
Lions utility Brent Staker is expected to miss the remainder of the season after scans today confirmed the 26-year-old suffered a ruptured ACL in his right knee. Staker will have a full knee reconstruction tomorrow.
"It's obviously devastating news for Brent," Warren said.
"Brent has had an outstanding pre-season and he was ready to demonstrate that fitness on the field. I'm sure that while he is bitterly disappointed he will recover strongly from this setback."
