The Brisbane Lions have named their 23-man Reserves side that will take on Queanbeyan in Saturday’s NEAFL Inter-Conference Championship.

The Lions’ side is made up of just 10 listed players - a significant drop from the 18 who took part in last week’s Grand Final win over NT Thunder - with the remaining spots filled by top-ups.

As expected, the Club has opted to rest eight of its younger players to ensure they have a sufficient break before they return for pre-season training.

Last week’s Joe Grant Medallist Claye Beams headlines the list of omissions, which also include Patrick Karnezis, Jack Crisp, Billy Longer, Patrick Wearden, Sam Docherty, Elliot Yeo and Josh Dyson.

However, the Lions still boast seven players with sufficient AFL experience, including Captain Cheynee Stiller, Amon Buchanan, James Hawksley, Aaron Cornelius, Niall McKeever, Jordan Lisle, Stephen Wrigley.

Callum Bartlett, Sam Michael and Justin Clarke round out the Lions’ representatives.

Among the eight new inclusions are six members of the Queensland U18 Championship squad - most of which have previously featured as top-up players for the Lions throughout the season.
