Rather than being eased into another gruelling program, the players were greeted with 2km time trials after arriving at their Coorparoo summer training venue at 6:30am.
The 2km trials were followed by three 300m shuttle tests, football skills, and an aerobic run - before all players returned to the Gabba by 10am to undergo individual physical screenings.
The morning’s proceedings were designed to give the Club an early indication of how well the players looked after themselves during their break - and the results seemed to please Senior Coach Michael Voss.
The afternoon will be spent outlining the finer details of the pre-season program, as well as a briefing for all those heading to Arizona on Wednesday.
There will also be time to officially introduce some of the new faces that have joined the Lions during the off-season - including Trade Period recruits Brent Moloney and Stefan Martin.
