This week I got a career-high 2,003 points, bettering my effort from last week by three points.
My score also shot me up another 13 spots on the Lions Dream Team League ladder to 323rd. But as much as I’m trying to pump myself up, it’s pretty obvious that I still have plenty of work to do.
Luckily I can see plenty of room for improvement.
For example, Marc Murphy from Carlton was my Captain this week and got his lowest score for the season (68) against the Saints last night!
One of my other regular guns, West Coast midfielder Matty Priddis, got injured in the first quarter against the Bombers and contributed just 17 points to my total.
So it shows that I’m not too far off pushing towards the 2,100 mark.
I also got some very helpful Dream Team tips from the DT Talk boys who visited the Gabba over the weekend.
DT Talk is a cult online show that the keenest Dream Teamers follow intensely, and the guys who host it are freaks. By that, I mean they seem to have intimate knowledge of which players are the best to recruit. It’s no surprise that they always finish among the leading point-getters at the end of each season.
Both guys are actually teachers in their ‘other’ lives, and one of their students is current placed 9th overall in Australia for total AFL Dream Team points.
No doubt I’ll be putting some of their helpful hints into practice over the coming weeks.
You can check out my full chat with them on LIONS TV by clicking here.
My efforts certainly pale in comparison to LeueyLongerCombo (coached by Luke) whose score of 2,391 was enough to claim the outright lead in the Lions’ competition, replacing the seemingly unbeatable kkkirkalicious at the top.
In fact, kkkirkalicious’ modest total of around 2,100 has seen them slip outside the top five completely!
A special mention also to Vendetta who topped Round 7 with 2,470 points - kind of makes my total seem very ordinary doesn’t it?
POLKS’ TIP FOR THE WEEK
I’ve been taking other people’s tips this week, so I can only suggest you check out Dream Team Talk for yourselves to hear from the real experts - Calvin and Roy.
They have an almost disturbing love for Tom Rockliff as well, almost to the point where I think they flew all the way to Brisbane last week just to meet him in person!
