The Brisbane Lions are set to host two of the competition’s heavyweights - Collingwood and Carlton - in consecutive weeks at the Gabba next season.

With the official 2013 AFL Fixture set to be released at 10am (Melbourne time) on Wednesday morning, The Courier Mail has revealed the Lions will play back-to-back home matches against the Blues and Magpies in Rounds 9 and 10 respectively.

The Magpies clash, in particular, promises to be a genuine blockbuster, with the match scheduled to be played during AFL prime-time on Friday night.

It will be just the third regular season Friday night match the Gabba has hosted in the past decade.

Lions CEO Malcolm Holmes told The Courier Mail that the Magpies match would likely be the biggest on the Club’s 2013 calendar.

"There's about three million people within an hour's drive (of the Gabba)," Holmes said.

"(Hosting) Friday night football is a significant show of faith by the AFL and broadcasters."

"There should be no bigger game."

The Brisbane Lions’ complete 2013 Fixture will be revealed on lions.com.au at 10am (Melbourne time).
