Drummond, who spoke live with fans on lions.com.au, said he was hopeful of being selected for his first hitout for 2012 next weekend.
"I am on track to play next weekend, most likely in the Reserves," Drummond said.
The 28 year-old has has had a wretched run with injuries throughout his AFL career, so has taken every precaution to ensure that he recovers fully from his latest off-season hip surgery.
Drummond is expected to begin the Club's 2012 campaign gaining valuable match practice in the local NEAFL competition, but hopes to push for a senior berth early in the season.
He also revealed that his 'heir apparent', Sam Docherty, could be set to play his first game in Lions colours next week.
"(Sam) Docherty, I believe, will be playing next weekend as well,"Drummond said.
"He looks like he will have a great future with the Club."
During his chat, Drummond also praised the pre-season efforts of both Matt 'Goose' Maguire and Mitch Golby, discussed his part-time university studies, and responded to some very personal questions from a 'fan' named 'Thumper' who sounded remarkably like his fiancée Jenna.
