BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss admitted he has plenty of headaches finding a key forward to cover the loss of inspirational skipper Jonathan Brown.

Speaking after the Lions suffered their second straight loss to the tune of 78 points to the Western Bulldogs, Voss conceded he has his work cut out finding an answer up forward after the Lions only managed six goals for the match.

Brown looks set to be on the sidelines for up to three months after suffering multiple facial fractures in their round one loss to Fremantle.

"I don’t think there are necessarily too many other ones," the Brisbane Lions coach said regarding his options up forward.

"We just have to be able to keep rehearsing it and practicing it and get familiar with the relationships down there so we can work together."

Despite the magnitude of the defeat, the Brisbane Lions coach could not question the endeavour of his undermanned charges, with the Lions skill errors ultimately proving to be the difference between the two sides.

"You can think you’re a mile off when your not and we got convincingly beaten scoring wise but certainly our intent and endeavour - I couldn’t really question that," he said.

"We matched them inside-50 wise, so we were getting the ball down there plenty of times but they were a bit more efficient at ground level getting that ball out."

"Their work around congestion was the feature of their game and not one of ours."

Voss said this year the club will continue pushing the youngsters into the fold, and pleaded with Brisbane Lions fans to be patient with the talent coming through the ranks.

"What for us it’s about is that we still make sure we get games into these players and this is a chance for us to be able to look at it [and] find out what we need to do better," he said.

The Brisbane Lions coach believes now and the next 12 months is the time for these younger players to seize their opportunity and take the pressure off the senior trio in Jonathan Brown, Luke Power and Simon Black.

"For these players hovering between 30-50 games of footy, I would have thought over the next twelve months, it’s up to them to take over," he said.

"We need others to join in - it’s time for these guys to do the job for a while"

"Now is the time to do it.  There is no beating around the bush."

Brisbane Lions will look to record their first win in season 2011 when they return to Melbourne to take on the Demons next Sunday at the MCG.
