McCluggage saved his best for last being a standout over the Club’s two finals games to share the Best Finals Player award with Brownlow and Merrett-Murray medalist Lachie Neale.

On the biggest stage, he was calm and composed and his superb skills stood out.

He was once again named in the preliminary 40 man All Australian squad and finished third in the Club Championship voting for the second consecutive year.

The 22-year-old was the model of consistency playing every game and being among the best most weeks.

If there was one area of his game that dipped in 2020 it was goalkicking but he was still a major contributor in attack, recording a career high average goals assists.

And he kicked the one that mattered in the qualifying final that sealed the victory over Richmond.

His season high 28 possessions came in the Q Clash win over Gold Coast and was one shy of his career benchmark.

He also gathered big numbers against West Coast (26) and Adelaide (24) where he also booted 1.5.
