The AFL has determined that suspended young defender Noah Answerth will be available for selection in the AFL competition from round four.

Answerth was in the frame to play for the Lions against Geelong on Friday night but was charged with rough conduct from Saturday's one-point win over Aspley.

Answerth was last week handed a two-game VFL suspension, assessed as intentional conduct with high impact and body contact.

With the 2021 VFL season starting later than the AFL, it meant Answerth would not have completed his VFL suspension until the end of round six of the AFL.

The AFL since determined that Noah should only be suspended for the equivalent time in both the VFL and the AFL competitions.

Answerth will remain suspended for the first two rounds of the VFL season should he not be selected in the AFL in rounds four or five.
