Thank You Lions Members

Today, the AFL announced its total Club and AFL membership tally for the 2021 season, breaking the League’s all-time membership record and reaching 1,113,441 members.

The Brisbane Lions were one of ten Clubs that also broke their own all-time Club membership number to hit 40,289 members for the first time in it’s 140-year history.

The Lions were one of only five Clubs to increase its membership tally by more than 10,000 members for the year 2021, with the Club membership number rising 11,012 members year on year – a 37.61% increase, the highest percentage increase of any Club in the AFL.

The Club total consisted of 1,670 AFLW members including 651 members who purchased both a men’s and women’s membership.

One in 23 Australian’s is a member of an AFL Club.

CEO Greg Swann said this was an incredible result as we close out what has been another uncertain year for the community.

“To break a membership record this year is an unbelievable result” he said.

“It shows that Australian Rules Football is flying in Queensland and that people are genuinely enjoying watching the Lions play.

“We’re excited about what this means for the future of our football club as we continue to build, and we can’t thank our members enough for their unwavering support, loyalty and passion.”

The Brisbane Lions wishes to thank each and every one of its 40,289 members for saying I am Lion in 2021.

We look forward to welcoming you, and hopefully many others, back on board in 2022.
