A graduate from the Lions Academy, Eric Hipwood had one of his best years to date in 2023. The 203cm key forward booted a career high 41 goals and formed a lethal combination with fellow tall Joe Daniher. An ACL injury in mid-2021 saw an interrupted 2022 season for Hipwood but finished the year strongly kicking three, four and two goals during the Lions three finals before taking that momentum into last season. The Sunshine coast product will again play a vital role in the Lions attack in 2024.
