In his second summer at the Lions, Josh Schache is looking to improve on what was an impressive debut season, after playing 17 games and winning the praise of AFL commentators in 2016.

One of his best games came in Round 13 against the West Coast Eagles where he had 15 disposals, 9 marks and kicked 2.3 in a strong display.

“I suppose there is always that little bit of pressure (as a first year player) – but I feel like I’m pretty relaxed at the moment and I’m working hard as much as I can to fix those little things that I need to fix.

“I’m feeling really good at the moment.”

The 19-year-old broke his PB during this year’s pre-season time-trial and has performed strongly during running work.

“I suppose my skinfolds weren’t up to scratch last year and I’ve really dropped them down and lost a fair bit of fat – about three kilos of fat.

“I’m just feeling a lot lighter and running a lot better which has been good.”

“Fages’ been really good. He’s been really good at bringing in new standards at the Club, (it feels like) everyone’s a bit more revitalised and energetic.”
