Brisbane Lions AFLW Head Coach Craig Starcevich will nearly have a full list to select from ahead of Sunday’s Grand Final re-match.

After an extended pre-season, Starcevich says that it’s a testament to the team and the staff to have close to a full squad available.

“It’s a credit to our fitness and medical staff that we’ve got most people fit and available,” Starcevich said.

“We’ve had a long and torrid pre-season and our players like to aggressively compete and that always comes with risk, but we’ve managed to make it to Round 1 with close to a full squad available.”

“I think the players also deserve some recognition for that achievement too. With all the things they manage in their lives, they’ve been professional with their preparation and recovery and that always goes a long way in keeping the team fit and healthy.”

First round draft pick Maggie Harmer will have to wait a little longer to make her Lions debut as she is unavailable due to a minor foot complaint.

Sunday’s Round 1 clash will see the Lions face longstanding rivals, the Adelaide Crows, at Flinders University Stadium, Adelaide.

It will be the first time the two sides have met since the Lions won their inaugural Premiership last season.
