The Brisbane Lions have opened their AFLW sign and trade period with a bang, re-signing five Lions ahead of the upcoming season.

Emerging talents Zimmorlei Farquharson, Ruby Svarc, Lulu Pullar, and Luka Yoshida-Martin as well as experienced defender Phoebe Monahan have all put pen to paper for the NAB AFLW Season 7.

The re-signing follows all five players having made their AFLW debut for the Lions during the 2022 season.

Exciting forward Farquharson dazzled in a dream debut that saw her gather 12 disposals, five marks, one goal and a NAB Rising Star nomination.

After patiently waiting on the sidelines for her opportunity, Svarc was rewarded with her chance to make her AFLW debut alongside older sister Cathy in Round 3.

Svarc played in a number of positions across the ground throughout the season, providing the Lions with added versatility and depth.

In her most prolific season to date, the former Giant and Tiger quickly asserted her position as a hardworking member of the Lions’ defensive unit.

Drafted at Pick No.58 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, former soccer player Pullar’s professionalism and endurance led her to become a mainstay in the Lions defence through the back half of the season.

While first-year player Luka Yoshida-Martin gave Lions fans a glimpse at her X-Factor and natural goal sense in her three AFLW games.
