Brisbane Lions CEOs Greg Swann and Breeanna Brock joined forces today by battling it out on corner of Adelaide and Albert Streets in the city selling The Big Issue.

The Big Issue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and creating work opportunities for homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people.

They are most famous for The Big Issue magazines, where vendors retain a cut from every issue sold.

Magoo, a regular vendor, showed the CEOs how it is done.

“It’s an eye-opener because when you put the vest and hat on you become invisible,” Swann said.

The hour attempting to persuade passers-by to buy an issue of the magazine proved challenging.

“It’s fine if you don’t want to buy a magazine, but it is important for the vendors to be acknowledged,” Swann said. Brock agreed.

“I take my hat off to them. They work such long hours. A good day may be 12 magazines,” Brock said.

“It’s a great initiative to earn some money and give people the empowerment of earning their own money.

“We look forward to helping again next year and support this great cause for the homeless.”
