Daniel Rich will be further assessed by the Brisbane Lions before the Club makes a final decision on the defender ahead of Thursday night’s match against Collingwood at The Gabba.

The 32-year-old trained on Tuesday as he continues to push for selection by overcoming a quad injury which saw him miss last week’s match in Melbourne.

While Rich eyes off a return this week, the Club is buoyed by the potential return of fellow defender Darcy Gardiner.

Gardiner has shown promising signs and is ‘aiming to play next week’ after missing the start of the season with an ankle injury.

“Darcy has been tracking well and doing full training,” said Lions High Performance Manager, Damien Austin.

“He did do a lighter session on Tuesday though, as his bigger session will be Thursday to put him in good stead with everyone else (that will play Thursday night) to do full training next week.”

The Club will announce its final team for Thursday night’s match with Collingwood at 6:20pm AEST on Wednesday.
