I’ve quickly learned that there is no place for loyalty when playing AFL Fantasy.

At one stage this season, I had 10 Brisbane Lions players in the ‘Polka Specials’ line-up, but only half remain as I head into Round 15.

This basically means that I’ve traded out five of my teammates over the journey.

Sam Docherty is the latest casualty, which hurts because he’s been part of my team since day one.

I’m pulling the trigger on ‘Doc’ only because he suffered a back injury last weekend, which will keep him out of action for a few weeks.

I also desperately need to free up some space in my salary cap, so a straight swap for Melbourne’s Mitchell Clisby seemed to be the smartest move.

Clisby is going well for the Dees and looks likely to rocket up in value over the next couple of weeks. Plus, that particular trade will give me an extra $80K to play with.

I imagine there will probably be a lot of other teams considering making the same move, considering Sam’s in 20,000 Dream Teams across the country.

In fact, he’s the 7th most popular Dream Team selection at the Club. Brent Staker’s still the most popular – he’s in 85,000 teams.

When I first started doing AFL Dream Teams, I probably would’ve just stuck fat with Docherty and left him on the bench. But with so many trades this season, I figure I might as well make use of them.

Plus who knows, I might even swap them back around again once he’s ready to return to senior football.
