The Brisbane Lions confirm Co-Captain Hugh McCluggage has a low-grade strain of his left calf which occurred during Saturday night’s Opening Round clash with the Western Bulldogs.

McCluggage underwent scans on Sunday after the midfielder left the field during the first quarter and played no further part in the match.

The club expects McCluggage only to be sidelined for next week’s match against Sydney, with the Lions then having the bye in Round 3.

The Club is also yet to decide if it will challenge the sanctions handed to Harris Andrews, Zac Bailey and Darcy Gardiner by the MRO following last night’s match.

The Club will advise media of its final decision on Monday afternoon.
