Fresh off winning her maiden Best and Fairest following a stellar 2025 campaign, Belle Dawes said there is nowhere she’d rather be than running around in Maroon, Blue and Gold.
“To be signed onto 2028 is honestly just awesome and if I had to sum it up in one word it would be aligned,” Dawes said.
“I feel like this is exactly where I meant to be, Brisbane feels like my home the club, the girls the staff just the whole culture.
“I feel like I keep getting better each season, this is an environment I feel where I can keep learning, I'm still a sponge and I have this thirst to get better, in my leadership, in my skills, in my game and I know that this is the place to do it.
“I feel so grateful yeah that I'm going to be here for another three seasons, I’m not done, just getting started.”
AFLW Senior coach Craig Starcevich was full of praise for his energetic vice-captain.
“This new deal for Belle is a fantastic reward for her steady growth over seven seasons and her current status as our reigning club champion,” he said.
“Most people see her match day energy and what impact that has on her performance, but behind the scenes we know the care she has for her teammates, her curiosity for all areas of the game, and the direction she wants her team to take.
“She is an incredibly influential person within our group and I’m sure all Lions fans are as excited as we are to see Belle drive our team towards further success.”
The 2024 All-Australian, averaged 20.3 disposals, 5.9 tackles and 3.3 clearances last season but the Finals series saw her elevate again.
The 24-year-old over 25 touches, six tackles including a team high 31 disposals on Grand Final day including 13 possessions alone in the third quarter.
