The Brisbane Lions confirm defender Darcy Gardiner will undergo shoulder surgery on Wednesday.
Gardiner, who dislocated his right AC joint during Saturday’s win over St Kilda, was assessed in hospital after the match and cleared of any fracture.
The 30-year-old is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight weeks, with the club to make a further assessment following surgery.
Fellow Lions defender Noah Answerth has entered concussion protocols, while utility Conor McKenna has overcome a hamstring strain and is available for selection this week.
