Ferguson was named Queensland’s MVP at the championships which wrapped up last week.

The 18-year-old forward said being selected in the squad meant a lot to her.

“When I found out I was really honoured, it was such exciting news, especially knowing how much hard work I’ve put in to get to this point,” Ferguson said.

Key forward, Harlee Mcllwain said receiving the phone call was a surreal feeling.

“Being named in the All-Australian team is something I’ve strived for this year, so it means the world to me,” Mcllwain said.

“To be recognised alongside so many young talented girls really is special and I couldn’t be more honored.”

Brisbane Lions Head of Academy, Dayne Frew said that the achievement was something both the players and their families should be very proud of.

“Molly was our captain this year and isn’t just a great individual player but an even better leader and person. She puts in a lot of work off the field and that has shown in her on field performances,” Frew said.

“Harlee has had an interrupted season with a toe injury. For her to get through the national carnival with the injury and to play as a key forward and perform the way she did, is a great sign of her resilience and strength as a player.

“A big thank you must go out to our coaching & high performance staff who put in a lot of work behind the scenes to make our program what it is, so our players have the best chance to be the best they can be.”

The men’s U18 All-Australian squad will be announced in the coming weeks following the conclusion of their national competition this Sunday in Ballarat.
