Charlie Cameron, Allen Christensen and Hawthorn’s Jarman Impey joined forces last week to promote a message of healthy living. All three are proud ambassadors of the Deadly Choices program, which is about empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families – to stop smoking, to eat good food, exercise daily and to get an annual health check.

Cameron, Christensen and Impey all visited the Institute of Urban and Indigenous Health Clinic at Woollongabba last Friday to have their yearly check-up.

“We’re just trying to promote healthy living,” Cameron said.

“It’s always important to get health checks for Indigenous people and it’s important to promote it.”

The trio put their rivalries aside for a good cause, despite the game being 24 hours away.

“We’re enemies on the field but off field it’s good to link up with other Indigenous players and promote this stuff,” Cameron said.

“We’re role models for our communities.”

Any Indigenous person who goes in for an annual health check receives a Deadly Choices T-Shirt, with a beautiful Lions’ design on offer.
