Tasmanian recruit Aaron Cornelius - who will turn 19 next week - has been selected to make his senior debut against St Kilda this Sunday afternoon at Docklands.

Cornelius was one of two changes to the team for the Saints clash together with veteran Tim Notting who is set to play his 199th senior AFL match this weekend.

The pair come into the side for the injured key defenders Daniel Merrett (ankle) and Joel Patfull (jaw).

Cornelius is the latest newcomer to the senior ranks after impressing both as a key forward and key defender with the Lions Reserves side in recent weeks.

The 192cm Tasmanian will become the third Lions player to make his senior debut in the past four weeks.

It promises to be a tall order for the Glenorchy product who will likely be used in a key defensive post opposed to either Nick Riewoldt or Justin Koschitzke.

Cornelius was drafted to the Club with Selection No.57 in the 2008 AFL National Draft. He twice represented Tasmania in the U18 National Championships and earned U18 All-Australian honours in 2007.

Coincidentally, Cornelius played his first match with the Lions in Round One of the 2009 AFL NAB Cup competition against this Sunday’s opponents – St Kilda.
