Jared Polec might have publicly declared his preference to be traded to Port Adelaide, but that won’t stop the Lions from exploring other options.

Polec is one of five young Lions players who requested a move back home, and the Club has since been forthcoming in dealing with both Port Adelaide and Adelaide since the beginning of the Trade Period.

However, it seems that the 21-year-old now wants to make Alberton his new home.

Port Adelaide issued a media release on Wednesday to advise that Polec and his management team had confirmed Port as their club of choice.

“Port Adelaide is delighted with this announcement and will now work closely with the Brisbane Lions to work towards a suitable trade for both clubs,” the statement read.

But Lions National Talent Manager Rob Kerr said the news would not affect the Club’s plans to get the best possible deal for the former first rounder.

“Jared expressed a desire to go home, but he is not a free agent so we will continue speaking with both Port Adelaide and Adelaide,” Kerr told lions.com.au.

The Lions are hopeful of striking an appropriate deal for Polec, but will keep an open mind throughout the negotiation process.
