The Brisbane Lions could be set for some good news at the selection table this week with some senior players expected to return and defender Pearce Hanley still a chance to overcome a minor hamstring complaint.

Hanley was substituted off the ground at half-time of last week’s match against Collingwood at the Gabba, but after showing signs of improvement early in the week, he remains a chance to face the Giants on Sunday.

“Pearce is coming along well,” Lions Physical Performance Manager Brett Burton told Lions fans during his weekly Bupa Recovery Report on LIONS TV.

“He had a bit of soreness in the hamstring, but he’s been up and running. If he gets through our main training session then he should be right to go.”

The Lions are also expected to be bolstered by the return of Vice-Captain Jed Adcock who missed last week’s match with a slight groin issue.

“Jed should be fine this week,” Burton said.

“We expect both Ben Hudson and Ryan Lester, who missed last week through soreness, to be available also.”

The Lions’ 25-man preliminary squad will be announced at 6:25pm on Thursday evening, with the final team of 22 trimmed down by Friday at 5pm.
