The bye looks to have come at a favorable time for the Brisbane Lions with the week’s rest boosting the possibility of captain Dayne Zorko not missing any football.

Scans revealed on Monday a minor hamstring strain for the midfielder, who was subbed out of Saturday night’s win over St Kilda in the third quarter.

Zorko will be assessed throughout the next two weeks for the Lions top-of-the-table clash with Melbourne next Thursday.

The other injury out of the weekend’s victory was to Darcy Gardiner.

A knock to the back saw the defender come from the field for treatment in the third quarter before returning to play out the match.

However, after the game Gardiner required medical treatment for fluid on the lungs.

He is currently resting and will continue to be closely monitored over the coming days.
