The Brisbane Lions have received another boost with premiership duo Darcy Fort and Logan Morris re-committing to the club on new deals.
Fort has extended his stay by one year until the end of 2026, while Morris has signed on for two more years until the end of 2027.
The exciting news was announced to the playing group before training on Thursday morning.
Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said keeping the pair at Brighton Homes Arena was a great result for the Club.
“It’s fantastic to have Darcy and Logan both make the call to stay at the Brisbane Lions,” Daly said.
“They are great people from great families who are important to the culture at our Club which we pride ourselves on.
“On top of that they have played key roles in helping us be successful on the field, including being members of our 2024 premiership team.
“We have been extremely happy with their contribution to the Brisbane Lions so far and look forward to an exciting future with them.”
Morris, taken with Pick 31 in the 2023 AFL Draft from the Western Jets, has proven to be one of the Lions most exciting young players.
The 19-year-old has kicked 37 goals in his 26 games since making his memorable debut last season.
What has been a standout for the 193-centimetre forward is his strong marking and ability to hit the scoreboard regularly.
“From the moment Logan got his opportunity at AFL level he has taken it with both hands and made the most of it,” Daly said.
“Logan has been impressive so far and we are confident he will only take his game to new levels as he develops.
“We are thrilled as a Club that he is committed to extend and we look forward to Logan and the Morris family continuing to be part of the Lions.”
The Lions are also delighted to retain Fort, with the ruck-forward to remain at the Club for 2026.
The 31-year-old has been super reliable for the Lions in his 38 games across his four seasons in the maroon, blue and gold.
Fort, one of the most selfless players at the club, was one of the great stories of persistence in 2024 when after playing just two games for the season and no finals, became a premiership player with the Lions.
“Darcy firstly is a very good ruckman, a premiership ruckman, who is also extremely valuable when he plays up forward,” Daly said.
“But perhaps more importantly he is also one of the most trusted and respected players at the Club.
“No matter when it is or what it is, whenever Darcy is called upon, he does what is required for the team and for the Club with no fuss.
“We are thrilled to have Darcy, his wife Jasmine and the Fort family continue to be part of the Lions for another year.”
