The Brisbane Lions have received a positive boost as the midway mark of the season fast approaches, with three key players a chance to return this week.
Ruckman Oscar McInerney, defender Brandon Starcevich and forward Sam Day have all recovered and are available for selection to face GWS.
McInerney has been managed the last month with the Club wanting to freshen up the 30-year-old ruckman after carrying a heavy workload in the opening nine rounds.
While Starcevich has been out since Round 1 due to concussion and Day sidelined for the past five weeks with a hamstring strain.
All three players will need to get through training on Thursday before being considered for selection at either AFL or VFL level.
Duo Darcy Gardiner and Tom Doedee, who both didn’t play last week due to soreness, are also a test for this week.
In further good news for the Lions, emerging ruckman Henry Smith has shown strong progress as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his foot.
Smith is back running and will continue to have his training loads increased in coming weeks.
