The Brisbane Lions today announced a new record with club’s membership roaring past 75,000 for the first time.
With the club competing in its seventh consecutive AFL Finals campaign and first Final against the Gold Coast SUNS on Saturday night, Brisbane Lions CEO, Sam Graham, thanked members for their ongoing belief.
“No matter where we play, home at the Gabba or around Australia, the support and belief from our members is always an inspiration to the team,” he said.
“So, to all our members, you are life-blood of our Club and from everyone at the Lions, thank you for your support of the maroon, blue and gold.
“To achieve over 18% growth this season (75,115 up from 63,268 in 2024) is a credit to the entire playing group and all of our administration staff.
“Particularly, this is a reflection of our consistent onfield performances which is a credit to all our players and AFL coaching staff led by Chris Fagan and Danny Daly AFL and AFLW football programs led by Craig Starcevich and Bree Brock.”
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon thanked fans for their support and passion for the game.
“We have the greatest fans in the world, supporting the game week in and week out and backing their clubs by becoming members in records numbers,” Dillon said.
“1 in 20 Australians are a member of an AFL Club. The 18 clubs do an amazing job of driving the passion and commitment of all our fans, reflected with 14 clubs breaking their all-time membership record.”
“From the AFL and the clubs, I thank all club members and the seven million plus fans who attended a game this season – the loyalty shown makes our game great.
“It’s shaping up to be a great month ahead with the Toyota AFL Finals, the NAB AFLW season underway and grassroots and community footy finals on across the country.”
