Brisbane Lions duo Deven Robertson and Will McLachlan have both been named in the 40-man squad for VFL team of the year.

Robertson earnt his second successive selection in the squad while McLachlan, in his first full season as a Lion was named for this first time after being selected as a mid-season rookie in 2024.

Averaging 26 disposals across his 15 matches, Robertson was consistently among the best players week in and week out for the Lions.

Despite a string of strong performances, Robertson’s best game came against the GWS Giants in Round 12 where he collected 36 disposals, took six marks and laid nine tackles leading the Lions to an 85-point win.

McLachlan, who booted 33 goals across his 15 matches including three games where he kicked five or more majors.

Five goals in Round 5 against Sandringham, six against GWS and five against Essendon demonstrated the 20-year-olds prowess in front of the big sticks.

The final team of 24 players will be named on Monday, September 15 at the 2025 VFL and VFLW Awards. A captain and coach will also be selected.
