Youi Brisbane Lions Academy graduate, Rania Crozier is set to make her AFLW debut this weekend against the Western Bulldogs.

The 19-year-old, who just signed a two-year contract extension this week, will play her first AFLW game after being drafted with pick 31 in 2023 AFLW Draft from QAFLW Club, Aspley Hornets.

In her second year on the AFLW list, Crozier has impressed throughout the scrimmage matches so far this season, most recently booting four goals.

“I’m super excited to be pulling on the jumper this weekend, it is something I’ve been dreaming started playing footy, so for that to be realised is amazing,” Crozier said.

“Having been part of the Academy and now coming into the AFL group, everyone has been incredible and helped my development as a footballer so much.

“I can’t wait to run out alongside all the girls on Sunday, to think I'll be playing alongside teammates I once looked up to  and watched on TV is something that will never feel real."

Having risen through the ranks of the Lions Academy, Starcevich noted her work ethic and desire to improve as something which has helped her gain AFLW selection.

“We are really excited to have Rania play this weekend and it is a reward for a lot of hard work and perseverance since joining our group in 2023,” Starcevich said.

“Rania came into our system from our Academy and has continued to show steady development, as a forward she has worked really hard on her craft and she’s been able to put that work on show in the scrimmage matches.

“We are looking forward to seeing Rania run out on Sunday afternoon in Lions colours.”
