The dual premiership player debuted in the Lions' 2019 Round 6 game against Carlton and quickly became one of the competition's most dangerous defenders.

Brisbane Lions AFLW senior coach Craig Starcevich said Ellenger’s commitment was fantastic news for the Club.

“Jade has grown into an outstanding player and an important leader within our group, so we’re thrilled she has committed her future to the Lions,” Starcevich said.

“Her speed, hard running and ball use have seen her become one of the best rebounding defenders in the competition, and she consistently sets a high bar with her competitiveness and positive mindset.

“After nine seasons, 87 games, two premierships, and a podium finish in last year’s Best and Fairest, Jade has already built a great football CV, yet we still believe there is plenty of growth ahead of her. She’s committed to help develop her younger teammates and determined to drive her team forward as a leader. We’re all excited to see where that leads.”

Ellenger said she was happy to be staying at the Lions.

"This club has been my home since I arrived, and I can't imagine pulling on any other jumper," Ellenger said.

"We've achieved some special things together, and I genuinely believe our best is still ahead of us.

“Brisbane really is my home, my family, friends and partner are all here and having their support on and off the field means the world.

“Nothing beats running out with my best friend's bubs or finishing games and having my entire family waiting in the cage. Those are some of my favourite parts of football.

“We are so lucky up here in Queensland and especially at Brighton Homes Arena, the facilities are second to none and being at a successful club in both the men’s and women’s competitions creates such an incredible environment to thrive.

"I want to thank Craig, the coaches and all the staff for their belief in me and the support they've given me. They've helped me grow so much as a player and even more as a person, and I'm really grateful to the club, our members and fans.

“I can’t wait it see what we can achieve in the next few years, it’s the place to be, watch this space!”
