Large Circular design pieces: Central to this story is the role of his Aunties, Nannas, and Mums - the powerful Indigenous women whose strength and guidance continue to shape his path. Within Aboriginal kinship systems, women hold deep responsibility in nurturing, protecting, and leading, and this piece acknowledges the importance of that strength in Kiddy’s journey.
Footprints and trail marks: Surrounding his journey are the footprints of all Australians walking together - a symbol of unity, shared pathways, and reconciliation. These tracks show that while Keidean’s story is unique, it is also part of a greater movement where people walk side by side in respect and solidarity.
Totems: The totems acknowledge Keidean’s past and present teammates, including the influence of Charlie Cameron and Callum Ah Chee, and the contributions of AFLW players Ally Anderson, Courtney Hodder and Dakota Davidson. The totems acknowledge their connection to Country, spirit, and identity, while acknowledging the importance of cultural responsibility and belonging.
Hand prints: With the hand prints of his children we celebrate Keidean’s personal journey both past and present. The unbreakable strength of Aboriginal women, and the vision of communities across Australia moving forward as one.
The River: The artwork also tells the story of movement and growth - from Keidean’s beginnings in Barunga to his steps forward in Wynnum, where he has pursued both his dream of playing AFL and the opportunity for a stronger education. His journey has always been carried by family, and today that support is extended further through his partner and children, who now walk beside him.
Together, these elements celebrate not only Keidean’s personal story, but also the enduring strength, guidance, and love of Aboriginal women who hold families and communities strong.
