Two of the Lions youngest stars have put pen to paper to stay on at the Lions.

Teenage recruit Harry Sharp has extended his contract until 2023, while third-year player, Connor McFadyen has signed on until 2022.

Sharp’s extension follows an encouraging draft year that saw him make his senior debut against Sydney in Round 1 of 2021.

While an untimely ankle injury has since seen the Brisbane schoolboy sidelined for much of the season, the time away from the game has allowed Sharp to put the focus on finishing his Year 12 studies ahead of a big 2022 pre-season for the 18-year-old.

20-year-old Connor McFadyen has also been rewarded after a consistent season of hard work.

After diligently working his way back from an ACL injury, the Lions Academy product put together eight strong VFL performances this season that saw him find a good mix of contested and uncontested football and showcase his strong overhead marking.

Brisbane Lions List Manager Dom Ambrogio said he is looking forward to seeing what the pair can achieve in their next season at the Lions.

“We’re rapt that both Harry and Connor have extended at the Lions for another year,” Ambrogio said.

“Harry had an excellent start to his season, and he really impressed us with how he’d gone about his training and balancing football and school.

“For him to come off such a challenging and disjointed 2020 season and then still get a look in at senior footy as early as he did is really promising, and we’re excited to see what he can do now that he’s had the chance to get in the gym and get stronger and really attack the next pre-season.

“And Connor has really impressed us with his fantastic attitude and the positive outlook he’s brought to his ACL recovery.

“He hasn’t complained, he’s just done the hard work and reaped the rewards of that this year with some really good, consistent football in the VFL.

“When you consider that he’s still only 20 years old, CJ has a really good opportunity in front of him to work on his growth areas and have a good run at the next pre-season to start hopefully knocking on the door of some senior footy.”
