The Brisbane Lions have secured the future of yet another premiership player with young forward Ty Gallop signing a two-year contract extension.

Gallop, taken with Pick 42 in the 2024 national draft, was contracted until the end of 2027 and will now remain a Lion until at least the end of the 2029 season.

The 19-year-old joins premiership teammates Jaspa Fletcher, Will and Levi Ashcroft, Darcy Wilmot and Noah Answerth in recently committing their futures to the Club.

Gallop, a Sunshine Coast local and Youi Brisbane Lions Academy graduate, said he was more than happy to be remaining at the Club.

“It feels great to extend for a couple of extra years and it wasn’t a very hard decision at all because I have loved the time I’ve spent at the Club so far,” Gallop said.

“The Club culture we have here and the close relationships I’ve built in my first year were two key reasons for me wanting to extend.

“I love the way the boys go about it, and I am excited to be part of a winning side with a great group of people.

“My debut season was a big one and I’m very grateful to be part of a premiership side in my first year, which is a huge honour, hopefully we can experience it again.”

While Gallop has only played six AFL games, his three goals against Collingwood in this year’s Preliminary Final showed a glimpse of his true talent and potential.

Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said having Gallop further commit to the Club was exciting.

“Ty has already had a real impact for us becoming a premiership player in his debut season and we see him as a really important part of our future,” Daly said.

“We have loved watching Ty come through our Lions Academy, and he is continuing to work hard, and we are excited to watch him continue to develop.

“Ty is a quality young man who has fitted into our Club really well and we look forward to having him and his family at the Lions until at least the end of 2029.”
