Brisbane Lions AFLW Assistant coach, Ryan Davis has informed the club he will take on a new role as senior coach with the Adelaide Crows AFLW program in 2026.
Ryan, has been at the Lions for two seasons, looking after the midfield group in back-to-back grand final appearances.
Lions Head of Women’s Football, Breeanna Brock said Davis has been a great addition to the Lions program and we wish him well.
“Ryan’s had a great impact over the past two seasons and we wish him well at the Crows.”
“Ryan will become the fourth person from within our program to go on to AFLW head coaching honours alongside David Lake, Lauren Arnell and Daniel Webster.
“It speaks volumes of Craig’s influence within the coaching group with so many going onto higher honours.
“While it’s inevitable clubs will seek staff who’ve had success, we wish Ryan all the best and thank him for his dedication to our program during his time here.”
Growing up in Sydney, Davis was drafted to the West Coast Eagles in 2008 playing 14 games before being re-drafted by the Gold Coast SUNS in 2016 where he added another 21 AFL games.
Appointed the inaugural Southport Senior Women’s coach in 2020 following his playing days, Davis took the team to win two premierships (QAFAW).
Davis oversaw his side’s promotion to the QAFLW and made the QAFLW Grand Final in 2022 and was awarded the 2022 QAFLW Coach of the Year for his efforts.
